Snail Mail...Literally
I was at the Esplanade library a few days back reading TIME when I came across this article about realsnailmail.net. It's this project by Bournemouth University that uses actual snails to deilver messages. What they did was to attach some chip on the snail's shell and once you typed your message down and send it, the message goes into the chip in which the snail travels along until it reaches another area where there is a receiver in which the message is then delivered to the receivee's email. Thought I'd give it a try and see how long it'll take to send a message. TIME said that it depends on the snail. Some messages can be delivered in a week, some in a month and even a year for some rare cases. Let's see how long mine will take! The snails are quite cute. They have codenames like 001, 002, 003...008 and so on imprinted on their shells. Have a look for yourself. http://realsnailmail.cfdeveloper.co.uk/profiles.cfm
